Life is Like a Highway

Life can be compared to so many things.
At this moment, life seems most like a highway.

On this highway of life,
the speeds vary.
Sometimes life moves full speed ahead,
eighty miles per hour.
Other times life seems to stop,
a sig-alert that feels like forever.

On this highway of life,
we are never alone.
At times we are surrounded,
it's a crowded day on this road.
Yet still others are lonely times,
like a highway at three am.

On this highway of life,
things happen.
This morning I heard of hay spilled on the freeway,
another day ago I listened of pomegranates rolling.
Different substances; different problems,
same effect: traffic.

On this highway of life,
we move on.
We grow and change and leave each place,
never forgetting where we've just been.
We move on as humans,
we keep driving on and on and on.

Life is like a lot of things
This shows that life is like a highway.
Now we're one step closer to finding the meaning of life.

Fear

Life is about a lot of things.
Last night, I found that life is about fear.

Fear of heights.
Fear of spiders.
Fear of death.
Fear of life.
Fear of others.
Fear of yourself.

And those are just some examples.
Lets go over some of them, yes?

Fear of heights - acrophobia.
For a more complete definition of acrophobia, visit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acrophobia

Fear of spiders - arachnophobia.
For a more complete definition of arachnophobia, visit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arachnophobia

Fear of death.
Well, that one has no latin (greek?) name.
It should, in my opinion.
The fear of death is what keeps some people alive.
They live only because they are afraid to die.
Is that the meaning of life?
Not dead?
I wonder about these people.
Do they fear losing their breath forever?
Or do they fear what comes after death?
The "afterlife"?
But then, if they fear that, is that really still fear of death?
I think it's a domino reaction type fear.
They fear death because it leads to the afterlife.
Could they fear simply not knowing what lies ahead?
Fear of conjectural ideas?
Fear of death. Is that what is keeping you alive?
Is that your meaning of life?

Fear of life.
Again, there is no latin (greek?) name for it.
And again, I believe there should be.
Being afraid of life and living it.
What is that?
If your fear of life becomes irrational, what could you do?
What would you do?
What are you afraid of if you fear life?
Could you really know?
Is that maybe why there is no name for it?
Because life is subjective word, maybe?
I mean, that's obviously why you're here.
To find what life means, right?
Are you afraid to find out what life means?

Fear of others.
I can almost 100% guarantee that everyone here has had some fear of others.
Do you fear what others see you as? Think of you? Say about you?
If you fear everyone else in the world, what is life to you?
Are you yourself life?
Is that possible?

Fear of yourself - autophobia.
For a better worded, scientific definition of autophobia, visit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autophobia
Have you ever been afraid of yourself?
Of what you could possibly do?
The above page says that autophobia is hating oneself.
Do you hate yourself?
Is fear the same as hate?
Is there maybe just something about yourself that you dislike?
Or do you honestly fear yourself?
Are you afraid of being alone with yourself?
Are you afraid of what you think of or what you believe?
The ideas you come up with, the things you visualize,
are they "frightening"?
You are indeed alive, are you not?
Is fearing yourself the same as fearing life?

Is the fear of something the reason you do another?
Is fear the real reason for life?
Is it even a reason?

Learning

Life is about a lot of things. One of the most important things that life is about is learning.
Yesterday, I learned some interesting things from a friend of mine. Allow me to share me findings, if you will please(:
  • I learned that life and love and all their downfalls are things that you cannot let control you.

But overcoming such challenges is indeed one of the hardest things one can do in their lifetime. It takes years and years and years of practice to even come close to being able to truthfully say that you did not let them control you.

  • I learned that writing about the positive is just as possible as writing about the negative.

But then I tried it, and all I felt were negative things, thus, all that I wrote was negative. Writing positive things when your mind is in a negative state makes those statements seem shallow, flakey, and like lies. They are meaningless. They are just words.

  • I learned that there are those special people in the world who will not, no matter how much you talk to them, get annoyed with you, simply because they care too much about you and because they love you.
I am lucky enough to have one of those people in my life. Also, I hope that I can be one of those people for someone else.
  • I learned that whatever may come your way and break you down will eventually turn out OK, even if it doesn't seem that way at first or even for a while.

It really does help in everyday life to remain optimistic and just to remember that it will all be okay in the end.

  • I learned that even though something may feel like it helps but really hurts, you'll just look back at the damage later and feel very stupid.

True as ever. I just can't explain how genius it is. I know that firsthand and by watching others as they realize the truth within that statement.

  • I learned that meditating helps put things into perspective.

It sounds stupid, I know. I thought it was stupid at first too. But then I tried it. I lay down in my bed, everything was off, the lights, the music, etc. I did not close my eyes, however, and I thought of everything, and I mean everything and then I thought of nothing. I let my mind go blank for the longest time. Its hard to think of nothing. Like, forget to think. Really, it is kind of hard, but worth every ounce of trying (if trying could be measured somehow).

  • I learned that the best way to get someone to talk is by simply letting them know that you are there and you are worried and care about them.

It works. You should try it maybe?

All these ideas came from one human being. A mere person. Not even a sage old wise man person. A young girl in high school came up with those thoughts. She taught me each of those things. How someone so young can come up with such truth and new ideas, I still have yet to learn.

Life is about a lot of things.
This shows that life is about learning.
Now we are one step closer to finding the meaning of life.
